Les hydrocarbures aromatiques polycycliques (HAP) ont été analysés dans des sédiments prélevés dans le golfe de Suez, en Égypte. Les concentrations de ∑HAP se situaient entre 6,6009 et 9442,803 ng/g de poids sec, avec une valeur moyenne de 1157,9793 ng/g de poids sec. La concentration totale de HAP la plus élevée a été enregistrée dans les sédiments prélevés à l’entrée de la Suez Oil Petroleum Company (SOPC) avec 9442,803 ng/g de poids sec, suivie de celle prélevée à 50 m à l’est de la sortie de la Suez Oil Petroleum Company (SOPC) avec 5183,466 ng/g de poids sec et à la sortie de la Suez Oil Petroleum Company (SOPC) à 1 770,3265 ng/g de poids sec ; tandis que des concentrations plus faibles sont détectées à Suez Beach à 6,6009 ng/g de poids sec, à 600 m à l’ouest de la sortie de la Suez Oil Petroleum Company (SOPC), à 300 m de l’entrée de la AL-Nasr Petroleum Company (NPC ) et EL- Sukhna de Loloha Beach (respectivement 16,8135, 47,4581 et 65,0644 ng/g de poids sec). Dans ce contexte, le rapport entre les HAP de faible poids moléculaire (2 et 3 cycles) et ceux de poids moléculaire élevé (4 à 6 cycles) a été utilisé pour différencier les sources pyrogènes et pétrogènes des HAP dans les échantillons étudiés.
