A Consulta de Enfermagem (CE) é uma atividade privativa do enfermeiro e significativa na composição das atividades de saúde. O Enfermeiro vem contribuindo na produção de tecnologias abordando as doenças crônicas não transmissíveis (DCNT) mais prevalentes. Dentre as DCNT, a Hipertensão Arterial Sistêmica (HAS) tem alta prevalência, sendo um problema de Saúde Pública. Mediante o déficit de autocuidado do indivíduo em relação ao controle da HAS, optou-se por validar a Consulta de Enfermagem enquanto tecnologia educativa no engajamento da pessoa ao autocuidado para o controle da HAS. A CE foi embasada no referencial teórico de Orem. Para a realização da CE estão disponibilizados os instrumentos: Levantamento de dados; Plano de Cuidados de Enfermagem (PCE); e Guia Instrucional para a CE. A CE proposta contempla todos os requisitos de autocuidado propostos por Orem (1995), possibilitando ao Enfermeiro conduzir a pessoa hipertensa ao engajamento no autocuidado para fins de manutenção da saúde. Para a incorporação da CE no Sistema de Saúde, será necessário a capacitação de Enfermeiros sobre a temática, e disponibilização do material em formato eletrônico.
