Conscientia: Or Latter-Day Pilgrims (1882) is a novel written by William Anderson Smith. The book follows the journey of a group of Latter-Day Saints, or Mormons, as they make their way to Utah in the mid-1800s. The story is told through the eyes of a young woman named Conscientia, who is part of the group. Along the way, the pilgrims face numerous challenges, including harsh weather, illness, and attacks by Native Americans. They also encounter people who are hostile to their beliefs and way of life. Throughout the book, Conscientia struggles with her own doubts and fears about the journey and the religion she has chosen to follow. The novel is a vivid portrayal of the difficulties faced by early Mormon pioneers as they sought to establish a new home in the American West. It offers insights into the history and culture of the Latter-Day Saints, as well as the challenges and triumphs of their journey. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
