O presente livro trata da montagem camada por camada de diferentes pares de polieletrólitos, PDACMAC/PSS, PAH/PAA, PLL/PGA e CHIT/DEX, sobre um microgel P(NiPAM-co-MAA) carregado negativamente. Os capítulos seguintes descreverão em detalhe a influência da natureza e do peso molecular do polieletrólito, bem como o pH e a força iónica das soluções de imersão no comportamento dos conjuntos revestidos. Serão descritas a resposta à temperatura, a mobilidade eletroforética, a estabilidade temporal, a morfologia e a espessura da bicamada de diferentes sistemas. Além disso, serão analisados os mecanismos de interação entre o microgel e os polieletrólitos. Este estudo demonstra que as propriedades das multicamadas confinadas em microgeles podem ser ajustadas com precisão, ajustando as condições de montagem. A abordagem aqui ilustrada é um método simples, versátil e interessante para integrar polieletrólitos com microgeles para a conceção de novos materiais com potencial uso em aplicações biomédicas, como o carregamento e a libertação controlados de substâncias.
