Este libro explora las confluencias del contraste y la ironía en la narrativa y el teatro hispánicos a través de un recorrido crítico por la obra de autores como Luis Landero, Jacinto Benavente, Juan Rulfo o Mario Vargas Llosa, entre otros. A menudo el contraste sirve de plataforma para la construcción de la ironía y le confiere un significado social, humano o ético. El análisis de los textos se ocupa de los modos en que la presencia simultánea de la gravedad y la comicidad potencia la flexibilidad de la representación y privilegia, sobre todo, la dimensión ética de los usos de la ironía en la construcción de los destinos de los protagonistas.Pol Popovic Karic (Belgrado) se doctoró en Letras Modernas en la Universidad Iberoamericana y se desempeña actualmente como profesor investigador en el Tecnológico de Monterrey. Miembro Regular de la Academia Mexicana de Ciencias y del Sistema Nacional de Investigadores (nivel II), y correspondiente de las academias de la lengua española de Venezuela, Paraguay y Estados Unidos, ha compilado nueve antologías sobre autores hispanoamericanos y publicado los volúmenes monográficos Ironic Samuel Beckett (2007), Conflictos y afectos en la literatura mexicana (2011) y En pos de Juan Rulfo (2015).
