El libro Comunicación, Periodismo y Género. Una mirada desde Iberoamérica pretende complejizar la discusión académica respecto a la construcción de narrativas, representaciones y análisis de la comunicación desde una perspectiva de género, permitiendo, de este modo, evaluar de qué manera los medios de comunicación influyen en la creación de sociedades más igualitarias y qué propuestas podrían presentarse para avanzar en esa dirección. Para ello, el libro cuenta con diez capítulos en los que participan más de una decena de investigadores de España, Grecia, Ecuador y Brasil. Los principales temas tratados en ellos giran en torno al impacto de los medios de comunicación y sus contenidos en la representación estereotipada que realizan, en multitud de ocasiones, de los grupos o colectivos minoritarios o en riesgo de exclusión, como el de las mujeres o el del grupo LGBTI, siendo discriminados a través de tratamientos informativos que refuerzan las situaciones de desigualdad.
