The process of word compounding ranks among the most productive processes of word formation in the English language. Most of the new formed compounds belong to so-called ’open’ word classes, that is, to compound nouns, adjectives or verbs. Compound adjectives are formed in many ways and their number is almost unlimited. The classification can be done according to several criteria. Some of those criteria are presented in the book.The research has been done on the examples collected from the English daily press and the choice shows the creativity and inventiveness of human mind, as well as the possible pathways that the development of a language can take.
