Over 80 medical treatises and case studies written by the late Professor Liu Shunong during his lifetime.刘树农教授生前撰写的医论及医案80余编Liu Shunong was born into a family in Huai’an, Jiangsu, with six generations of tradition in Chinese medicine. At the age of 17, he began studying medicine under his uncle Liu Xiaoquan and later apprenticed with Ying Jintai, a renowned physician in Huai’an. He was among the first group of distinguished professors appointed by Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (now Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine). Throughout his career, he served as the head of the teaching and research groups for 'Golden Chamber' studies, internal medicine, and various medical schools at the university. He also held positions as the director of the Chinese Medicine Literature Research Office, advisor to the Shanghai Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and member of the Expert Committee of Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.This book documents the academic origins of Professor Liu Shunong’s early development, the升华 of his thinking after embracing materialist dialectics in his middle years, and the achievements he made by applying these principles to medical education and clinical practice. The book compiles over 80 medical treatises and case studies written by Professor Liu during his lifetime. His medical discussions cover various aspects of Chinese medicine, including yin-yang, qi and blood, etiology, pathogenesis, and treatment based on syndrome differentiation. He also provides extensive and unique insights into the academic ideas and accomplishments of ancient physicians. The case studies include diseases of the heart, liver, spleen, stomach, lungs, kidneys, and other miscellaneous conditions, reflecting Professor Liu’s distinctive diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. Additionally, the book features articles written by his students, who researched and elaborated on his academic thoughts and clinical experiences.
