Cicely and Other Stories is a collection of short stories written by Annie Fellows Johnston and published in 1902. However, with the help of her grandparents and new friends, she learns to cope and find happiness.The fifth story is about a girl named Bessie who is determined to help her family during a time of financial hardship. She takes on odd jobs and even sells her beloved doll to earn money. Through her hard work and determination, she is able to provide for her family and learn important life lessons.The sixth and final story is about a girl named Mary who is sent to live with her grandmother after her mother’s death. Mary struggles to adapt to her new life and misses her mother dearly.
