In 1940 Britain’s new Prime Minister, Winston Churchill ordered the formation of the forerunners to what would become Britain’s  Special Forces. The first was the "Auxiliary" (Stay Behinders), Britain’s underground resistance. Then as the threat of Hitler’s invasion lessened, the "Special Operations Executive" was formed and tasked with "Setting Europe Ablaze."
