Das vorliegende Buch setzt sich mit dem Bildungsansatz Bildung für Nachhaltige Entwicklung (BNE) auseinander. Es handelt sich um ein Lern- und Handlungsfeld, das 1992 in der Folge der Rio - Konferenz entstand. Die UN - Mitgliedsstaaten bekannten sich zum Leitbild einer Nachhaltigen Entwicklung in ihren Bildungssystemen. In der Folge wurde 2005-2014 die 'Weltdekade Bildung für Nachhaltige Entwicklung ' ausgerufen. Das Buch bezieht sich auf den Teilbereich Friedenslernen bzw. Friedenserziehung und Friedensforschung.Dem Autor liegt dieser Schwerpunkt im Kontext einer Politischen Bildung und Demokratieerziehung im Kontext kulturell - religiöser Kompetenz durch seine Aktivitäten in der universitären Lehrer(innen)Bildung und politischen Erwachsenenbildung besonders. Der Wandel hin zu einer nachhaltigen Welt erfordert ein Umdenken, etwa in der gesamtgesellschaftlichen Verantwortung, benötigt werden globale politische Vereinbarungen über eine gerechtere Nutzung der Lebensgrundlagen und notwendige Möglichkeiten von Lebenschancen. Veränderungen beginnen schon im Kleinen, im Alltag und einem Umdenken.
