Zasoby wodne podziemne stanowią strategiczne i podstawowe źródło zaopatrzenia w wodę, ponieważ uzupełniają niedobory wody pochodzącej ze źródeł powierzchniowych lub eliminują konieczność jej poboru i uzdatniania. W niniejszej pracy wykorzystano bezpłatne narzędzia geoprocesowania do charakterystyki zasobów wód podziemnych na podstawie danych z głębokich odwiertów rurowych wykonanych w gminie Goianira, położonej w regionie metropolitalnym Goiânia, oraz wykorzystano Internet jako środek zarządzania informacjami. Wykorzystano narzędzia systemów informacji geograficznej z wykorzystaniem aplikacji gvSIG do opracowania produktów kartograficznych zawierających informacje o zidentyfikowanych studniach. Przeprowadzono analizy geoprzestrzenne, takie jak klasyfikacja przedziałów przepływów, opracowanie powierzchni potencjału wód podziemnych, identyfikacja głębokości skalnego podłoża, identyfikacja obszarów sprzyjających poszukiwaniom geofizycznym oraz katalogowanie odwiertów.
