If we take off the lens of bias and violence and brace ourselves for the internal and external cultivation of Urdu journalism, then surely the future of Urdu journalism will be bright./یہ کتاب اردو صحافت کے 200 سال کی تکمیل پر لکھے گئے خصوصی مضامین پر مشتمل ہے۔ اردو صحافت کا ماضی مشکلات کے دوران بھی تابناک نظر آتا ہے کیونکہ صحافت اور صحافی حق گوئی، بےباکی اور صداقت کی راہ پر قائم رہے اور اپنی خواہشات اور آراء کو حق کے تابع کر دیا تھا۔ اردو صحافت کی دو صدیوں کو یاد کرتے ہوئے حال اور مستقبل پر ہمیں نظر رکھنے کی ضرورت ہے۔ اردو صحافت کی موجودہ صورتحال ہرچند کہ تکلیف دہ ہے مگر اردو صحافت کا چراغ اب بھی چند مخلص و دیانت دار صحافیوں کی بدولت ٹمٹما رہا ہے۔ اگر تعصب اور تشدد کی عینک کو اتار کر اردو صحافت کی داخلی اور خارجی طور آبیاری کے لیے کمر کس لی جائے تو یقیناً اردو صحافت کا مستقبل تابناک رہے گا۔
