'《徒然草（中日文对照插图版）》是现代出版社和风译丛系列推出的日本古典文学经典作品之一。吉田兼好的《徒然草》与清少纳言的《枕草子》合称'日本随笔双壁'，前两者与鸭长明的《方丈记》并称'日本三大随笔'。《徒然草（中日文对照插图版）》采用了百余种版本中错误最少、流传最广的乌丸本，以《日本古典文学全集27·徒然草》（小学馆，1983年）为底本；以中日文对照译本，还原原著和汉混淆文和以假名为主的和文混合而成的文体；收录住吉具庆所绘《徒然草画帖》、西川祐信所绘《绘本徒然草》等近百幅精美插图，立体呈现日本镰仓时代末期的社会风貌。《徒然草》创作于镰仓末期，全书由序段和243段互不连贯、长短不一的杂感、评论、带有寓意的小故事、对社会各阶层人物的记录或考证性的作品组成。作者吉田兼好是精通儒、佛、老庄之学的著名歌人，出家后创作了《徒然草》，文笔细腻，以通透澄澈之心观察世间万物、世态变化、人事更迭，字里行间富于诗性、趣味性和哲理性。《徒然草》是日本隐士文学的滥觞，代表了日本中世散文创作的杰出成就，在日本文学史上占据重要地位，对周作人、川端康成、夏目漱石等后世作家产生了深远影响；在日本长期作为古典文学的入门读本，是读者最多的文学作品之一。
