我热爱琉璃是从山西插队回来去琉璃老窑厂见媳妇时开始的。而真正有了强烈要书写琉璃的念头，则是2008年为了保卫北京的蓝天，琉璃老窑厂的窑火燃烧了七百多年要被迫熄灭的那一刻。老窑厂最后一任厂长是我的好朋友，我们在一起的话题总是离不开琉璃，因为明朝皇帝朱棣的高瞻远瞩才有了故宫紫禁城，才有了这座世界独一无二的金碧辉煌的宫殿建筑群。而完成这伟大壮举的就是同样伟大的琉璃工匠们的呕心沥血。才有了今天中国非物质文化遗产的宝贝留给了中华子孙。可没有人为她书写历史，也没有人关心琉璃是不是该建立一座琉璃博物馆。于是分工：我的朋友要去书写官窑历史，我则以小说的形式告诉世人，有那么老一代故宫匠人迎着北京和平解放的红旗，为了修缮伤痕累累，默默修缮着故宫而忘我工作着。他们这个大家族的每一个新成员从小就知道为了琉璃传承都必须义无反顾的，学习长辈，使自己做到了与长辈一样兢兢业业几十年如一日地描绘琉璃的辉煌灿烂。甚至将琉璃的绚丽多彩展现到了全世界。为了琉璃的这份光彩我在努力耕耘，希望这些不平凡的琉璃匠人的传承故事能够感动激励每一个华夏儿女。王志国：男，1947年10月出生，汉族，吉林省四平市人，中共党员，大专学历。退休前在北京市门头沟区卫生学校任校长一职，退休后，终于有了时间可以学习码字。在报刊上终于也有了我的铅字姓名。发表有诗歌集《只有一颗五角星的油画》、报告文学《迈坎儿》，以及中、短篇小说、散文等十几部。长篇小说《发光的琉璃烛台》是我的长篇小说处女作，我孕育了她多年后，又写了近两年，加上修改、增删，大约有四五十万字吧。后来竟然因为我自己的责任，又把稿子丢了......这就是人们常说的创作的苦辣酸甜吧。'即使生活给了我更多的苦难，但我还是认为幸福更多'。
