本书以'父逝三十年'为起点，由女儿视角回望王维慎的一生：一位在家族内部长期被误解、在社会与武坛却广受敬重的中国男子。作者以晚年与父亲重建情感的三个月为情感支点，结合自传、回忆录、检查与申诉材料、往来书信等第一手史料，勾勒其人与其事的双重谱系--家国与武学交织、个体命运与时代风云互为映照。王维慎七岁习武、十八岁夺得重庆-四川武术擂台赛桂冠。抗战爆发后弃武从戎，解放战争中率部携军用物资起义。新政权初立，他历经坎坷：半生颠沛，以劳力谋生，却始终以武为命。1979年，六十五岁的他在上海校园重作'冯妇'，以武当松溪绝技示范而再度为世所识；其后撰写并公开松溪派资料，打破门规秘传，1989年出版《武当松溪派内家拳》，系统阐述源流、拳理、内功与医理，被武坛誉为承上启下之关键人物。1995年逝世之际，其抗战与起义事迹亦为官方与同侪所证。本书不仅是武术史与近现代史的互证，更是一部关于'理解与和解'的家庭记忆录。作者以学理的严谨与亲情的温度，呈现一个武者的技与德、荣与辱、沉潜与复出，亦回答何以在漫长的误读之后，重新认识一个父亲、一代人，以及他们与国家、民族、武学相互成就的历史。
