前言人生短短，經歷多少！我倆收集些覺得值得保留的資料，自印成書。圖片與照片多過文字，尊從俗語'一幅畫勝過一千個字'。自己印書不免遭評為自誇，但為了後輩傳存之需，遂有此決定。能保傳多久，也只有順其自然矣。無數同學，朋友，與親屬陪伴我倆走過這人生旅程，非常感激，藉此衷心銘謝。 PREFACELife is short but with plenty of experiences. We two herein collect our encounters more in pictures and less in words - as the saying tells 'a picture is worth a thousand words.' We can’t blame people for saying 'showing-off' by self-publishing, this undertaking is to satisfy our wish of having a collected document for the later generations to pass on. How long will it last, let nature take its course. Countless classmates, friends, and kinsfolk had accompanied our life journey, we would like to take this opportunity to thank them wholeheartedly. 包硯清教授，國際知名的醫學工程學者，台大機械工程系畢（1956），美國猶他大學機械工程與數學雙碩士（1959-1961），美國康乃爾大學動力機械工程所博士。曾受聘於行政院「中華民國國家建設研究會」（國建會）返臺指導，1986年獲得美國機械工程學會院士。本文集蒐錄包教授賢伉儷自2003年1月起至今（2014年1月）每月發出的'Pao’s Monthly Memo'（包氏簡訊），內容豐富生動翔實，透過包師母的編輯巧思、文學創意與包教授對世界的洞悉、評論與彙編，讀者彷彿身歷其境，得以一窺一位來自臺灣旅居美國的學者在美國的生活、家庭、教育、就業、旅遊、研究等人生哲學與專業思維。本書全彩印刷，在臺出版、全球發行。
