Jamaica Biltmore, a single father and private eye, lives and works out of an old bar where the customers are regulars and food is dependable at its best. Jamaica has been struggling with the thought that his son would leave at the end of the summer and go away to college. Jamaica has collected advice from his various friends on how to deal with the impending seperation. Phillip Meli, world famous author who works out of the bar, Captain Tom Caruso of the New York Police Department, Jamaica’s oldest friend and brother in law, and Gino Partenza, the underworlds most powerful gangster all had the same advice - Let him go.Jamaica has a better idea, with Joe’s blessing they would give one case a final try. If Joe likes the work he stays home and joins the family business. If he hates the work, he goes to college. The next case walks in the door, a typical missing person case. Not very exciting. When the client leaves the bar and gets into his convertible to drive away, a twenty ton dumpster carrying hot asphalt backs up over the convertible and dumping his load on new client killing him instantly, Jamaica excitedly thinks this will intrigue Joe. As Joe stared at the smoldering dead client all he could think about is filling out the college application. Promising to give the case a fair shake, Joe and Jamaica face shoot outs, runaway cement trucks and an international gambling ring. What will Joe decide?
