Caroline is the story of a remarkably engaging and vivacious woman! Her story will inspire you; make you laugh and cry, while lifting your spirit in appreciation for the strong, intelligent, and capable women that America produced in the 20th century. Born in 1924 on Long Island NY, CAROLINE as a child lived through the lean years of the depression, had loving Episcopalian parents, got a Physical Education degree from Sargent College, and met a Navy lieutenant in Boston and married him in Pearl Harbor near the end of World War II. She raised a family of five while volunteering as a leader in education everywhere they lived. In Chicago, she confronted the Daly Machine and won! To help pay college expenses for her kids in her fifties, she worked part-time while earning her Master’s degree; enabling her to become a personnel manager in retail. She 'retired' at 62 to nurse her husband with cancer until he died in 1986. She subsequently traveled to the world, including Egypt, China, Sweden, France, Australia, and Russia. In her mid-sixties in the Chicago suburbs, she volunteered to run a free Career Resource Center for the unemployed. She eventually settled in Naples FL where she spent time designing and sewing costumes for the local theater, tending her garden, and reading the newspaper cover to cover (completing every crossword puzzle). Politics is her new passion making her a TV news junkie. She volunteers as an official for elections and has little patience for the 'do-nothing' politicians in Washington. Three years ago, Caroline had a stroke, forcing her to slow down and give up her driver’s license. CAROLINE now has eight grandchildren and six beautiful great-grandchildren (with a seventh on the way). Everywhere she lived, she and her husband made long-lasting friends, hosted great parties, worked tirelessly, and were avidly involved in the community. By her example, she taught her children to be smart, responsible, and good citizens. She celebrated her
