How he came to arrive in the Caribbean is unclear, but he would unquestionably leave his mark on the world. He made his fortune, but while achieving this, he became a legend to the people of Jamaica and was knighted by the King of England.His expeditions to take the Spanish cities, such as Portobelo, Maracaibo, Gibraltar and Panama City, are written into folklore.
