Il cancro gastrico è un tumore maligno che si sviluppa nelle cellule gastriche.Ogni anno, in tutto il mondo, vengono diagnosticati quasi un milione di nuovi casi di cancro gastrico, con una previsione di oltre 700.000 decessi nel 2018, dopo il cancro ai polmoni e il cancro del colon-retto, che lo rendono il terzo tumore più letale al mondo.Vero e proprio problema di salute pubblica, il cancro allo stomaco è il secondo tumore dell’apparato digerente più comune al mondo dopo il cancro del colon-retto. In Africa, alcuni studi dimostrano che i tumori dell’apparato digerente, compreso il cancro allo stomaco, vengono diagnosticati sempre più spesso e che la loro frequenza è in aumento.Poiché il cancro gastrico è un problema di attualità nel NRCC del CUK, nella Repubblica Democratica del Congo, la sua diagnosi precoce e la sua gestione ottimale possono ridurre il tasso di incidenza e di mortalità. Questo lavoro ha quindi studiato i profili epidemiologici e anatomo-clinici del cancro gastrico nel NRCC del CUK.
