Avtor je čas, ki mu je ostal ob opravljanju zaupanega mu dela posebnega odposlanca za kandidaturo Slovenije v Varnostnem svetu OZN, porabil za vrsto predlogov, kako slovensko zunanjo politiko narediti bolj pogumno, bolj vitalno in bolj globalno, med drugim z dvigom ravni odnosov z vrsto mednarodnih regionalnih organizacij, vključno z Organizacijo islamskega sodelovanja in Gibanjem neuvrščenih, okrepitev odnosov z ZDA, koriščenje članstva v EU in Natu kot orodij za uresničevanje slovenskih nacionalnih interesov, vzpostavitev diplomatskih odnosov z vsemi članicami OZN, odprtje veleposlaništev v še nepokritih regijah sveta, priznanje Palestine, zagotovitev pravične razmejitve med Slovenijo in Hrvaško pred njenim vstopom v Nato in EU, zmanjšanje Slovenske vojske na 4000 pripadnikov in njen umik iz Afganistana do 11.9.2011.
