《给孩子的诗园;外国童诗卷》是'诗三百'中的一本，邀请屠岸先生主编，另两本中国童诗邀请金波先生主编，古诗诗卷邀请叶嘉莹先生主编。三位先生都是德高望重的大家，在业界有很高的威望和学识。屠岸先生是我国著名的文学翻译家、作家、编辑，他在1950年翻译出版中国第*一部莎士比亚十四行诗，而从四十年代起屠岸就对济慈的诗情有独钟，不仅因为济慈用美来抗衡社会的丑恶，与屠岸的价值观相吻合，1997年出版的屠岸译《济慈诗选》成为他译诗生涯的高峰，并获得了第二届鲁迅文学奖翻译奖。屠岸先生认为译诗与翻译其他门类相比对翻译者要求更高，不仅要将原作的形式传达过来，更重要的是要传达原作的神韵，本书中收录先生译童诗就充满童趣又内蕴深邃。
