O cenário político nos anos 1960 e 1970 colocou a Universidade, professores e estudantes no olho do furacão: a Ditadura Militar e o Ato Institucional nº 5, a Reforma Universitária que extinguiu as cátedras e a crise dos alunos excedentes que ganharam o direito de cursar a Universidade pelo vestibular, mas que não podiam por falta de vagas. E é nesse contexto histórico de grandes conturbações político-sociais que ocorreu a implementação do Curso Experimental de Medicina da Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo (FMUSP), revolucionando o ensino médico, com uma proposta de renovação curricular de integração entre disciplinas básicas, clínicase experiência com a realidade social. A criação do Curso Experimental de Medicina ensejou forte oposição daqueles que entendiam haver uma divisão de poder na FMUSP.O Curso Experimental de Medicina da FMUSP foi oferecido por oito anos seguidos (1968-1975), apesar das resistências, das ações contrárias, das “aposentadorias forçadas” de seus professores-base. Contudo, os legados do Curso Experimental de Medicina da FMUSP o mantém vivo, razão deste convite para revisitar os anos 1969-1974 e celebrar conosco os 50 anos do jubileu de ouro da formatura de sua segunda turma.
