Bussy D’Ambois and The Revenge of Bussy D’Ambois is a play written by George Chapman in 1607. The play is set in France during the reign of King Henry III and is based on the true story of Bussy d’Ambois, a brave and loyal soldier who falls in love with the beautiful Tamyra. However, their love is forbidden as Tamyra is already betrothed to the powerful Duke of Guise.Bussy becomes embroiled in a web of political intrigue and power struggles as he tries to win Tamyra’s heart and navigate the treacherous court of King Henry III. Along the way, he encounters a cast of colorful characters, including the scheming courtier Monsieur Montsurry and the vengeful Baron de Maffet. The play explores themes of love, honor, and revenge as Bussy fights to protect his honor and win the heart of the woman he loves. The Revenge of Bussy D’Ambois, a sequel to the original play, was also written by Chapman and continues the story of Bussy’s quest for revenge against his enemies.First published in 1905, this edition of Bussy D’Ambois and The Revenge of Bussy D’Ambois includes an introduction by the editor, as well as notes and annotations to help readers understand the historical context and literary significance of the play. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world’s literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.

Blood in the battle for racial equality is no surprise, but f...

The most astonishing thing is the sureness with which everything is controlled, explained, justified, in the most extravagant buffoonery. The cross-purpose...
