Der Umweltschutz in der Pali-Literatur und der von Ashoka gewählte Ansatz zur Erhaltung der Umwelt werden vorgestellt. Die Abschwächung der Umweltzerstörung durch die Annahme des edlen achtfachen Pfades des Buddha wurde vorgestellt. Die in alten buddhistischen Klöstern angewandten Hygienemaßnahmen wurden erforscht. Der Einfluss von Kamma auf die Erhaltung der Umwelt in buddhistischen und nicht-buddhistischen Ländern wurde bewertet.
