Lacoreana es una de las tres grandes culturas del Extremo Oriente. Desde el período arcaico hasta el presente, unos tres mil años, ha desarrollado un sucesivo y creciente acervo cultural. Sus aportes a la cultura universal han sido extraordinarios, además de su rica literatura, sus teólogos han aportado reformas sustanciales en el budismo y el confucianismo, un primer observatorio, el uso de tipos móviles para la impresión, el empleo de metales para proteger sus naves de guerra,el logro de sus celebradas técnicas ceramistas, la creación de un primer alfabeto –el hangul– en la región y muchos otros. Este libro, en su apretada brevedad, solo ofrece una sucinta visión de una extraordinaria cultura, hasta fechas recientes, marginada de la curiosidad occidental.
