Modern adult orthodontics, an increasingly prevalent field, is a complex, multidisciplinary field with both aesthetic and functional goals. Adult orthodontic patients fall into two main groups: Comprehensive treatment group seeking aesthetic and functional objectives and Adjunctive treatment group requiring orthodontics to facilitate other restorative procedures. Moving beyond traditional adolescent treatment, we emphasize the complexities of the adult dentition, including the lack of growth potential, existing periodontal issues, and increased patient expectations. The book provides a guide to comprehensive diagnosis-from detailed psychosocial analysis to focusing on esthetic outcomes. It also describes interdisciplinary treatment planning, appliance selection, specialized biomechanics and anchorage techniques. Finally, the book also focuses on collaborations with endodontics, periodontics, prosthodontics, and orthognathic surgery, culminating in strategies for lifelong retention and maintenance.
