Los pensadores de la antigüedad discutieron sobre política y discurso de un modo asombrosamente vívido y exploraron un amplio espectro de enfoques en el ámbito de cada una de estas temáticas como en el de la interacción de ellas. El presente volumen reúne un conjunto de ensayos que pretenden analizar y discutir algunas de estas aproximaciones y llevan a cabo tal tarea persiguiendo los problemas, no sólo en textos clásicos de filosofía política y del discurso, sino también en trabajos sobre medicina, retórica y religión. Uno de los resultados de esta investigación es constatar cuán difícil es discutir cualquiera de estas dos temáticas sin hacer referencia a la otra: el discurso surge en el ámbito de la acción política y ésta encuentra su lugar natural en el discurso. Esto explica el título de Boulê en el presente trabajo, el cual reúne bajo un mismo término el ejercicio de deliberación por medio de la discusión y el de toma de decisiones políticas. 10
