Grace is an East Coast ferret traveling west with her human parents. At a stop during a hike in South Dakota, a snake scares her mother who drops her. She wakes up in a hole surrounded by animals that look like her, only they have black feet.Bonnie is one of the black-footed ferrets that finds Grace. She helps Grace look for her lost parents, but she does not know that Grace’s parents are humans. And Bonnie is scared of humans!Along the way, they meet Kevin the Elder, a ferret who tells stories.
