Every life, sooner or later, arrives at a place where the road splits. For some it happens suddenly, a diagnosis, a redundancy, a phone call that changes everything in a single sentence. For others it happens slowly, an accumulating awareness that the path once walked with conviction no longer fits the person you have become. Whichever way it arrives, the crossroads asks the same question of every one of us. Will you have the courage to become who God is calling you to be, even when the way forward is not yet visible? This book is structured in five parts, each one following the natural progression of what happens when a road splits before you. Part One examines the crossroads itself, what it is, why it disorientates us, and why arriving there is not evidence of failure. Part Two turns to the competing voices that rise up in that moment, fear, familiarity, and the still, quieter voice of God, and asks how we learn to discern between them. Part Three does not shy away from the cost of choosing, because bold faith is honest about the fact that every road not taken must be grieved before it can be released. Part Four moves into the practical realities of walking a new path once the decision has been made, including what to do when the new road proves harder than expected. Part Five closes by exploring who we become on the far side of a crossroads faithfully navigated, and how that becoming prepares us for the next one, because there will always be a next one. Each chapter follows a consistent rhythm. It opens with a story, drawn from composite characters whose experiences reflect real and common struggles rather than any single individual’s account, so that you might recognise something of your own journey within theirs. It then turns to Scripture, to teaching, to honest reflection, and closes with questions to sit with, a prayer to pray, and a declaration to speak over your own life. I encourage you not to rush through these closing sections. The teaching in this book is meant to inform you, but the questions, prayers, and declarations are meant to change you.The prophet Isaiah recorded God’s promise that when His people turned to the right or to the left, a voice behind them would say, this is the way, walk in it (Isaiah 30:21, NIV). That promise has not expired. It belongs to you as much as it belonged to Israel. Wherever your particular crossroads has brought you, I want you to know that you have not been left to navigate it alone. Turn the page and let us walk it together.
