Ron Cervero’s new collection Blood & Glory Contemporary Christian Poetry finds the author speaking with new maturity. The poems are well defined and much more substantial than the fragments that marked his earlier work. Rather than simply the angry observer of life of his last volume, this book finds the poet with a far more philosophic world view, and world view it is, as Cervero wrestles with life, death and Christianity. Where before the poems left us with one image or thought, there now is a question asked, and an answer. The poet working from his premise to his conclusion makes for much more meaningful work. Also there is more attention paid to craft, and the descriptions of nature from his perspective are quite striking. The book continues Cervero’s Dickinsonian persona, as an observer of the world as he sees it from one place. But the poet is no longer content to simply note what he sees. His ruminations speak with a new and mature voice. - Professor of English Literature - David Mix 'Ron Cervero is a gifted man! But more than that, he’s a gift to Christians. The book you hold in your hands is poetry... very good poetry. But don’t let that fool you. These are poems that will make you think, move you deeply and sometimes make you angry. But they will make you think and experience God in an incredibly profound way. Read these poems and you will thank me for telling you to.' - Steve Brown ___________ If you’re looking for a way to identify Steve Brown, he’s a professor at Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando, Florida, an author, and the teacher on Key Life. www.keylife.org

‘There’s a touch of both Dickinson and Larkin in Jennifer Chrystie’s mature exhumation of the tales and tropes of family. The collection arcs from, at one extreme, the parsimonies of the household, to the transce...

    Edward V Bonner
The very title of Edward V. Bonner's first volume of poetry, One Kiss (Ingram, 2015), suggests some ways in which the poems inside balance the universal with the particular. Most of the poems examine the themes of beauty and risk, pleasure and danger, in the context of one of three kinds of relationships: to romantic partners, to the spiritual world, and to the world of nature....
