Le biogaz (gaz biologique) est obtenu à partir de la fermentation anaérobie ou de la dégradation des déchets : végétaux, bouses de vache, déchets industriels, animaux et de volaille. Il s’agit d’un mélange de méthane, de dioxyde de carbone et de traces de sulfure d’hydrogène. C’est un processus biologique qui comprend trois étapes : l’hydrolyse, la formation d’acide et la méthanisation. La formation de biogaz est simplement la conversion de composés simples en méthane. La quantité de déchets solides générés dans les pays en voie de développement tels que le Nigeria a régulièrement augmenté au cours des dernières décennies en raison de l’accroissement de la population et de la croissance continue des industries et des activités agricoles. Ce livre traite de la production de biogaz à partir de divers intrants pour compléter l’utilisation de combustibles dans la production d’énergie.
