Das nunmehr in der fünften Auflage erscheinende, weithin bekannte Buch des inzwischen verstorbenen Autors Dr. Heinrich Knoll wurde von mir vollständig überarbeitet, ergänzt, wo notwendig gekürzt und auf den neuesten Stand ge­ bracht. Dabei habe ich auf die leichtverständliche, einfache und übersichtliche Stoffgestaltung großen Wert gelegt. Im Mittelpunkt der Ausführungen des Buches steht die Bilanz, jedoch unter Berücksichtigung aller Auswirkungen, die sie auf das Rechnungswesen hat und von dort empfängt. Das Buch ist vollkommen auf die Bedürfnisse der Praxis abgestellt. Durch die Anfügung von Fragen und Antworten zu den einzelnen Kapiteln wird dem Leser eine Selbstkontrolle des erarbeiteten Stoffes ermöglicht. Theoretische Erörterungen wurden nur angestellt, soweit sie zum Verständnis der praktischen Beispiele erforderlich sind. Außer den Praktikern, die sich mit den wesentlichen Grundlagen der Stoffgebiete Buchhaltung, Kostenrechnung und Bilanz bekannt machen oder das Rüstzeug für die Bilanzbuchhalterprüfung erarbeiten wollen, soll das Buch auch den Besuchern von gehobenen wirtschaftlichen Fachschulen sowie Studenten der wirtschafts- und rechtswissenschaftlichen Fakultäten dienen.
