Many sincere Christians are confused about important political issues: How should Church and State relate to each other? What is the purpose of civil government? Should it have authority over religious matters? What does it mean to 'render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s'? When is war justified? What does the kingdom of God have to do with politics? What is the identity of the People of God now? Is it still the nation of Israel? Does modern Israel have a God-given right to take back the land they possessed during the Old Testament? How should Christians fulfill our civic duty? Should we try to establish Christianity as the official religion of our country? Should our government enforce Old Testament laws now? What form of government is the best? These are some of the questions we need to answer. Politics can be very controversial, but as Christians, we should begin our study by looking at what the Bible has to say. These lessons will help you begin to develop a Christian worldview of this complex subject. We can’t deal thoroughly with such topics in this small booklet, but we can analyze key Bible passages that will give us a good start.  Designed either for personal benefit or for group study, in each lesson you will first do your own reflection on important passages, then read some comments, and finally consider ways to apply the Scriptures to your own life. After the main section of Bible Studies, there are a few additional articles for further study.

But Steffens' dogged quest for truth and justice set...
