We’ve all got pasts. Some so scary, they prevent us from moving on into the present or future. When a software engineer, SAMUEL is invited to his friend’s wedding, he goes bearing much of the same dark past that has been holding him back for over a year. Knowing no one else but the couple, he is content with nursing his drink and his secrets. Until he is approached by a blond guy with a cheeky grin, JULIUS’ best man, KYLE. And for some reason, he trusts the man from the minute they start talking. Everyone who knows Samuel before his past is afraid of a change in that life might be disastrous. Even a change like Kyle, no matter how gentlemanly or adorable he might seem. If anything, Kyle is new territory, an uncharted course and even though he is Julius’ best friend, Samuel’s closest friends are still skeptical. Things get serious really fast between Samuel and Kyle and it seems as though they both know everything about each other. Kyle finds out this is not the case as there is still that one issue that all of Samuel’s friends are walking on tiptoes around. After Kyle gets into a spat with someone at a small gathering Julius and his husband, BENJAMIN put together for some of their friends, Benjamin walks in when they are both topless and questions the fact that Samuel has nipple piercings again to which Samuel replies that they are not the same ones. That night, Kyle is woken up by Samuel thrashing around because of a nightmare and when the other man finally wakes up, he is in a panicked worked-up state. As per Samuel’s instruction, Kyle calls ALEX, one of Samuel’s closest friends to come to take care of him. After the episode, Samuel explains to Kyle that he was in a relationship with a man who assaulted and tried to rape him. He adds that the man ripped out his initial nipple piercing and that Alex is the one who helped him through that difficult phase. This revelation of his dark past brings Kyle and Samuel even closer to each other.It’s Julius and Benjamin’s third anniversary and one year after Alex and his partner got married when Alex asks when he’d pop the question to Kyle. It takes a lot of planning with his friends for Samuel to surprise Kyle with a proposal. And despite Kyle’s insistence on Samuel not spending much on him, Samuel invests in a really expensive engagement ring.
