The railroad tracks are the corridor for murder. Nestled between several of Miami’s most vulnerable neighborhoods, 'Between Marble and Bronze' follows the exploits of veteran Miami Police, Homicide investigator Pizani as he chases a monster through the underbelly of Miami. After several heinous murders of unsuspecting women take place within eyesight of Miami’s glamorous downtown, Det. Pizani realizes that these are not ordinary cases. With the help of his partner, Det. Everton, he is tasked to hunt for a phantom through some of Miami’s most violent, drug infested neighborhoods like Allapatah, Overtown and Wynwood. Each case presents Det. Pizani with different but distinct clues forcing him to think outside the box, but not enough to zero in on an elusive monster that preys on the underworlds weak. Suddenly, just as Det. Pizani thinks he is ready to identify his monster other cases pop up with several twists that turns his world upside down. Each phase of Det. Pizani’s investigation is followed by the reader as they are transported through areas of Miami that would curl the toes of the most hardened investigators. See how Det. Pizani is able to navigate his personal life while consumed by one of his most difficult investigations. The closer Det. Pizani gets to solving these cases, the more he gets tangled up with his superiors and the bureaucracy of a major police department. As he unravels each clue meticulously, he finally comes in contact with his elusive monster and the chase is on. The confrontation between good and evil takes place in a most bizarre location, one that Det. Pizani would have never thought of but in the end, one that was fitting.

Stuart Evans’s first novel is a comedy-of-ill-manners set in a nouveau riche milieu: a fantastic satirical performance and hyper-referential homage to masters past and present. Paul Keller is the Stephen Dedalus of the piece, the son of Robert and Sylvie, whose internal monologue is spliced into the action, and whose incestuous feelings for his sister lead to an increase in his...
