Individual chapters describe her experiences growing up during the Great Depression, working as a social worker at a youth settlement house, being engaged to a soldier during World War II, making their way as a young couple following the war, raising two sons, and serving as a public school teacher for 24 years. She also reflects on the life of her husband of 62 years.
