Potpunim otudjenjem od sebe, koje nastupa posle bega iz gradske u idilicnu seosku sredinu gde ne uspeva da pronadje jednostavne radosti zivota, glavni lik ovog dela postaje prvi tipski antijunak nase knjizevnosti.-----First serialized in 1906 and often called the first modern Serbian novel, The Wilderness follows Gavro Djakovic from Zagreb back to his native Lika-only to find himself a stranger at home. Plot yields to atmosphere: interior weather, faltering hope, and the ache of someone who can no longer recognize the life he has chosen. Milicevic’s lyrical realism replaces event with perception, giving us one of the tradition’s earliest antiheroes and a landmark study of alienation. This compact edition brings a foundational modern text to contemporary readers who prize mood, voice, and psychological depth.
