Somewhere far away from the contemplation of truth are hidden clandestine meditations between a bridge and a parallel road, filled with essays and aesthetics, although still close enough to the metaphysical world. Everything has been neglected from thyself in order to find peace, yet one never truly finds anything, nor any meaning at all. There are no promises to make you aware of the trivial pain and suffering between good and evil and the ethical way; however, there remains hope to find yourself somewhere within these pages, in order to move along darker paths, whilst you-and whoever else-are curious enough to attempt the reading of such thoughts. If faith exists, and why, then we can only see it through. Or, let us say, one must be aware of his lightest self. And if one learns something, then he can will himself toward more, in the pursuit of becoming a better being. The language employed throughout the work remains deliberately accessible, as simplicity is chosen with intent, allowing reflection to remain unobstructed by complexity.

  • On the Duty of Civil Disobedience
    HENRY DAVID THOREAU
Civil Disobedience argues that citizens should not permit their governments to overrule their consciences, and that they have a duty to avoid allowing their acquiescence to enable the government to make them the agents of injustice. Thoreau was motivated in part by his disgust with slavery and the Mexican-American War, but the sentiments he expresses here are just as pertinent ...
