Behind the Seams tells the true story of a Hollywood costumer who worked in tinsel town during the golden era of television and film.Author Deahdra worked for many years on motion picture and TV studio lots, as well as in other settings as she dressed some of the biggest stars of the era.Chapters are broken down by movie or television title, detailing activities both on and off the sets. Her fun, exciting, and often humorous experiences with famous actors could fill a book!First-time author Deahdra was motivated to share her memories of working as a Hollywood costumer by a friend (and mentor), who convinced her to write the stories for everyone, not just a log for her son.She says, 'My intentions were to write about the various times that I was away from home being the absentee mom, and backing up the many photo albums taken over the years. I wanted him to know who these movie stars were and to let him know of the places I traveled. After my mentor convinced me to just tell my stories, he kept persisting and pushing me until completion.'Without that push, these stories and photos may have been lost forever.Dreams do come true! From Birmingham, Alabama, to Hollywood, California, Deahdra invites readers to share her fun-filled and exciting life in tinsel town! Her journey began as a native Southerner, whose uncle Phillip nicknamed her 'Hollywood' as a child. You can only imagine how special this made her feel, since she was a red-headed, freckle-faced little girl with a giant space between her front teeth. As fate would have it, she eventually pursued a successful career in the entertainment capital of the world, where her adventures truly begin.Come along and share these exciting times Behind the Seams. 'I thought it was an appropriate name for my book, as I was a costumer for many years in the motion picture and television industry,' she says. 'You should have a few laughs as we go, because life presents us with the unexpected.'Deahdra grew up in Birmingham, Alabama. After a career in Hollywood, she is now retired and living in Melbourne, Florida. This is her first book.Publisher’s website: http://sbprabooks.com/Deahdra
