Questo libro è stato scritto nel campo della performance finanziaria e sociale delle microistituzioni finanziarie. La base di questo libro è una ricerca che valuta e analizza la performance finanziaria e sociale delle MFI attualmente operanti in Cina. Il libro confronta la performance finanziaria delle MFI in termini di indici finanziari con la performance finanziaria delle banche convenzionali come benchmark, al fine di stabilire quale gruppo di istituzioni del settore finanziario cinese stia ottenendo risultati migliori e di analizzare i fattori che influenzano la performance finanziaria delle MFI. Infine, analizza anche la performance sociale in termini di dimensione media dei prestiti e di preferenza di genere nel portafoglio prestiti lordo delle IFM. Le piccole imprese sono discriminate in tutto il mondo dai sistemi finanziari formali e circa 98 milioni di persone in Cina vivono al di sotto della soglia di povertà. Alla luce di questa situazione, per questa ricerca sono state selezionate 18 grandi IFM e 8 banche convenzionali operanti in Cina. I risultati hanno portato l’autore a raccomandare alcune strategie adeguate affinché le MFI diventino finanziariamente stabili per sostenere la crescita economica.
