A avaliação de impactos ambientais (AIA) em loteamentos residenciais urbanos é uma etapa essencial no processo de planejamento urbano sustentável. Neste estudo, buscou-se avaliar os impactos ambientais de um loteamento urbano no município de Malta, Paraíba. A metodologia teve como base a realização de estudo bibliográfico, visitas em campo, fotodocumentação e utilização dos métodos de avaliação de impactos ambientais Ad Hoc, Check List e Matriz de Interação. Foram identificados 35 impactos ambientais do loteamento, sendo 17% 'Não Significativos', 74% 'Significativos' e 9% 'Muito Significativos'. Verificou-se que o meio abiótico teve mais impactos ambientais negativos, como a poluição e/ou contaminação do solo e/ou fontes hídricas. Foram propostas medidas e planos de controle ambiental para os impactos negativos significativos e de maximização para os impactos positivos provenientes do empreendimento, buscando contribuir para o desenvolvimento urbano sustentável e melhorar a qualidade de vida da população local.
