Este livro apresenta uma análise dos receptores ópticos baseados em SLA/PIN-HBT e APD/HBT. A melhoria da sensibilidade através da utilização de SLA foi demonstrada a taxas de bits elevadas. São comparados vários parâmetros, como a variação das taxas de bits na sensibilidade de ambos os receptores, a relação entre BER e sensibilidade, a relação entre taxas de bits e BER, o efeito do aumento do comprimento de onda na sensibilidade, a relação entre BER e potência recebida. Além disso, foi simulado o efeito do aumento das taxas de bits em vários componentes de ruído do SLA e o efeito do aumento do ganho do SLA na sensibilidade do recetor SLA/PIN-HBT. Este trabalho é útil para os investigadores que estão a trabalhar na conceção de receptores ópticos avançados.
