Die vorliegende Anthologie zeigt die Vielfalt und den Zugang australischer und österreichischer AutorInnen zur literarischen Gattung der Kurzgeschichte und Kurzprosa. Sie demonstriert sowohl die Ähnlichkeiten als auch die Differenzen zwischen australischen und österreichischen SchriftstellerInnen. Die Veröffentlichung dieser Sammlung fand gleichzeitig mit der 13. Internationalen Konferenz über die Kurzgeschichte auf Englisch statt, die vom 16.-19. Juli 2014 in Wien - und damit zum ersten Mal im deutschsprachigen Raum - durchgeführt wird. Australische Schriftsteller/innen waren Rebekah Clarkson, Cate Kennedy, Andy Kissane, Catherine McNamara, Cameron Raynes alle ins Deutsche von Ka Ruhdorfer übersetzt. Österreichische Schriftsteller/innen waren Günther Kaip, Friederike Mayröcker, Carina Nekolny, Judith Nika Pfeifer, Doron Rabinovici, Clemens Setz, und Bernhard Strobel  Die Konferenz hat eine ideale Plattform geboten für die Begegnung australischer und österreichischer AutorInnen. Die Austr(al)ia-Anthologie ergänzte passenderweise die dort stattfindenden Gespräche. - David Stuart, australischer Botschafter in Wien 2012-2016This anthology of short fiction represents authors from Australia and Austria, edited by Sylvia Petter and was presented originally at the International Conference on the Short Story, held in Vienna in 2014.
