All’inizio del XX secolo, la Germania aspirava a diventare uno Stato dominante in Europa. Gli Stati baltici dovevano diventare una potenziale area di dominio tedesco. Tra il 1920 e il 1940 la comunità tedesca (composta da 100.000 persone) in Lituania ha svolto un ruolo molto importante nella vita politica, sociale ed economica del Paese. Dal 1933 i giovani tedeschi, le associazioni sportive e religiose, le scuole e le biblioteche promuovevano il movimento nazista in Lituania. Per analizzare le attività dei tedeschi lituani, l’autore si è avvalso di pubblicazioni, periodici contemporanei e materiali d’archivio. Il libro offre una panoramica sulle origini del movimento nazista in Lituania, sulla formazione delle tre maggiori organizzazioni naziste tedesche e sulle principali ragioni che indussero il governo lituano ad avviare un procedimento giudiziario contro i leader nazisti della regione di Klaipeda. L’autore ha effettuato un’analisi comparativa e ha presentato le differenze nelle attività nazionalistiche tedesche in Lituania, Lettonia, Estonia e Cecoslovacchia.
