At The Sign Of The Guillotine is a novel written by Harold Spender and published in 1895. The story is set in Paris during the French Revolution and follows the adventures of a young Englishman named Jack Meredith. Jack arrives in Paris with the intention of studying art, but he soon finds himself caught up in the political turmoil of the time. He becomes involved with a group of revolutionaries who are plotting to overthrow the government and establish a republic. Along the way, Jack falls in love with a beautiful Frenchwoman named Marie, who is also involved in the revolutionary movement. As the revolution unfolds, Jack and Marie are forced to make difficult choices and face the consequences of their actions. The novel explores themes of love, loyalty, and political idealism, as well as the violence and chaos of the French Revolution. At The Sign Of The Guillotine is a gripping historical novel that offers a vivid portrayal of one of the most tumultuous periods in European history. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
