At The Court Of His Catholic Majesty is a historical fiction novel written by William Miller Collier and published in 1912. The story takes place in the 17th century and follows the adventures of an Englishman named John Langdon who travels to Spain and becomes embroiled in the political and social intrigues of the Spanish court. Langdon is a loyal servant of King Charles II of England and is sent to Spain on a secret mission to negotiate a marriage between the English king and a Spanish princess. However, Langdon soon finds himself caught up in a web of deceit and betrayal as he becomes entangled with various factions at the Spanish court, including the powerful and scheming Queen Mother, the ambitious and ruthless Prime Minister, and the beautiful but dangerous Countess of Alba. Along the way, Langdon must navigate the treacherous waters of court politics, avoid assassination attempts, and ultimately decide where his loyalties lie. The novel is a thrilling and suspenseful tale of intrigue and adventure set against the backdrop of one of the most fascinating periods in European history. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
