Cet ouvrage vise à analyser la relation entre l’asymétrie d’information et les décisions d’investissement des entreprises, plus précisément les niveaux d’endettement de celles-ci. Il s’agit d’une étude descriptive et exploratoire. Des données de panel sont utilisées afin de combiner l’analyse de données transversales et l’analyse de séries chronologiques. La procédure d’échantillonnage est de commodité : toutes les entreprises disposant de données suffisantes pour mener à bien la recherche dans la base de données Economática et cotées à la BM&FBOVESPA ont été sélectionnées. L’échantillon est composé de 81 entreprises avec des observations trimestrielles pour les séries chronologiques, à l’exception du bêta qui comporte des observations annuelles, pour la période allant de 2008 à 2013. Les résultats suggèrent qu’il existe un lien entre l’asymétrie d’information et les décisions d’entreprise en matière de structure du capital, les entreprises présentant les niveaux de transparence les plus élevés affichant également un niveau d’endettement plus faible.
