Ascension of a Woman is Karen Moreno Scott’s debut memoir in which she takes you on a deeply personal journey of her life as the daughter of an immigrant Guatemalan mother, of growing up fatherless, overcoming sexual and domestic abuse, and how she came to embark on a lifelong search for redemption and most profound self-discovery. Bear witness to Karen’s healing as she reconnects with her inner child to mend unhealed wounds, and in the process, learns to use her voice, reclaims her body, uncovers her multiracial identity, and comes alive before her very own eyes. This book is for anyone who has had to pick themselves up off the ground, has fought their way through darkness, and has discovered the light living within, because it is when we are falling that we learn to fly.Karen Moreno Scott is a proud multiracial bilingual Certified Life Coach and Reiki practitioner, a soulpreneur, an educator and motivational speaker, wife, mother, and now author. She was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, by her immigrant Guatemalan mother, Elsie. Karen has served as a volunteer for numerous nonprofit organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and Homes4Families, and as an ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher at MEND Poverty, a nonprofit organization in Pacoima, California. For five years, she has served as the only female member on the board of directors for the Los Angeles Police Baseball Foundation. As a coach, healer, and multiracial woman, Karen prides herself in serving her Spanish speaking community and women of color throughout the nation. Her dream is to expand her practice globally and open low-cost bilingual women wellness centers where women can feel safe, supported and empowered to change the narrative of their stories and create a path for generational wellness.Karen currently lives in Santa Clarita, California, with Michael, her loving and supportive husband, and Rocky Balboa, their French bulldog. Karen and Michael share a blended family of four amazing adult children, Michael, Jr., Samantha, Adriana, and Aaron. She is a self-proclaimed movie and eighties music buff.
